From the inked quill of Ken Klopper comes a modern fairy tale set in the future yet steeped in the past.

One nation divided by fate into strange and diverse groups. Wizards, warriors, fools, and robots struggling to forge an existence in their isolated worlds. When the demand for change finally comes, all eyes are on a young, courageous enchantress who must find a way to unite them . . . despite the dangers.

Excerpt

They had no way of knowing at that stage that fate had brought them to a planet called Prisma. They would learn later that it had once been a penal colony for a fierce tribe of Naglot warrior wizards but had long since been abandoned. The Naglot wizards waged wars against hostile nations and divided Prisma into four sectors to accommodate prisoners of war from different parts of the galaxy. They created powerful force fields between each sector making access to a particular sector only possible via portals that could only be opened with special keys and key codes held only by the wardens. The wardens and administrators inhabited the mountains in Sector 1 from where they controlled the rest of the territory.
When the Naglots abandoned the planet, they left behind that which had evolved over hundreds of years—four extensive and very different worlds.
Fate had thrown the dice and allocated Sector 1 to the confused and travel weary survivors from Pantos 1. They knew that they had to find shelter and a place that at least offered a chance of survival, but they had no idea where that place would be.
The group of 210 men of different ages and backgrounds started to move in the direction of the two red suns that cast their rays across the white faces of the higher mountains that lay ahead of them. The going was slow and painful. They were ill equipped for the climbing that was required in order to make progress. Three quarters of the group were men of middle years unaccustomed to the physical challenges that faced them. They had no ropes with which to climb sheer rock faces and often had to turn back to find an alternative route, only to find that that route was also inaccessible. Fatigue came quickly in the thin mountain air, and with it, came anger and frustration. Frequent rest was their only respite.
When two glowing, red moons made their appearance in the rouge-tinted, night sky, they attempted to rest for the night on a flattened ridge between a ring of conical-shaped peaks that towered above them. They were disillusioned and felt that they were moving in circles in a rocky maze with very little prospects of finding any safe place in which to settle. Tempers flared and ten men decided to leave the group that night and go off on their own expedition. They were never seen again.
On the third day after they had left the ship, when morale was at its lowest and food and water reserves had almost been depleted, Albert Egot, a biochemist spotted what he thought was the entrance to a cave high above them.
The heavy-footed group faced with few other alternatives started the slow ascent up the mountainside towards what appeared from below to be a circular-shaped indentation in the rock face above them. The initial climb was difficult, and aching muscles and heaving chests slowed them down. Half way up, the group were overjoyed and relieved to find a series of narrow ledges and interlinking rocky steps hewn out of the rocks that made the task far easier and the ascent much quicker than they anticipated. In their state, they gave little thought to the source of the constructed pathway.
