My children loved reading this book. Set in the past, the present and that magical bit in between. Lovely to see that everyone gets the opportunity to be the hero/heroine in this book. And love that witches and wizards are gender neutral.
The smattering of Doric may be confusing to those who don't understand the tongue, but it did not detract from the book. In fact, it enriched the passages. As did the dotted, reference to days gone bye. I fondly remember the Coulter's Candy and Bee Baw Babbity. It brought back memories.
Scottish or not, it is a book that can be enjoyed by all the family no matter what your age.

Their dad is from Aberdeen and the writer brought the language and the feel of the city right into out home.
Fabulous bedtime read. I'm not going to give the plot away but I do hope there is a follow on book. Well worth a read.
