In the year 2030, a series of well organized terrorist attacks performed by two different extremist groups, sends the American economy into default. The American Government collapsed not too long after that. Around forty percent of the citizens who had enough money saved up, moved out the country, mostly into Canada. The American elites decided to put Federal and State owned land up for sell to the highest bidders, which often were them-selves. Corporations bought whole states. The lands were govern by whoever bought it, meaning the owner of the lands made the rules and laws. Tech companies, Oil Corporations, Politicians and the LGBT community all raced to buy up their own states to live in. A gang of nomads formed from those with no job or place to go roamed the highways.
