A Sexy Thrill Ride, don't miss it!
What a ride! SLOW BURN is one of those stories that make you wish magic existed in the world. Derrick is a former spy and puma shifter haunted by his past who is asked to protect Sonja. Sonja is a death metal singer who has the magical ability to manipulate the crowd with her voice. The two of them together are magnetic, and whenever Sonja is ripped away from Derrick it falls like a blow to the heart.
Of the secondary characters: I love Max in this book; he makes me want to take up cigar smoking (never happen). Rob, too, is a fantastic secondary character, and when Sonja's band is finally brought back into the action, each one has a distinct voice and it made me wish they had more to do in the story.
From the opening scene where Derrick first listens to the magic that is Sonja singing, through the perils of trying to keep Sonja safe from a faction that wants to use Sonja's gift to destroy all shifters in the world, to the final happy ending, this is one sexy thrill ride you don't want to miss. All in all, a very satisfying read.
Something different but wonderful
I have read several books in the Opeth series by this author. Though I have to say this is completely different in vibe and style. A roller coaster romance between to different people the spy shifter who comes from a dark place in the pit of his own mind and a earthy death metal witch who stirs the show only to sooth her audience with her magical voice. Well worth the read and suspense to find out who wins the not so meek damsel the Villains, The Ex-spy Puma, the damsel herself or something in the middle. A Slow Burn That Heats You UP in All the right ways
Besides HOT sex scenes, this book has some of the most creative characters I've ever read. A Puma Shifter Spy AND a Death Metal Singer/Empathic? I was so intrigued by both and it really helped me get invested in the story.
The book overall is part spy thriller, part erotic romance. Both kept my heart racing...in a good way. Derrick and Sonja's relationship is exactly how the cover describes...a slow burn that ignites something within each and ultimately forces them to face the fears that have been keeping them from finding real love.
