This is a light frothy book for those who like the paranormal chick lit genre. The main protagonist is a "ghost magnet" and "crime junkie" who goes around talking to ghosts and giving of her detective skills all the while sailing through her college classes with not much anxiety.
The book sets a breakneck pace as Mellow Summers along with her friend Jackie, and boyfriend Greg, floats through her cases with ease and simplicity without breaking into a sweat. More detailed characterization, which is lacking perhaps because this is part of a series, could have added to the story. Some editing is also required to correct the few typos and sentence errors that creep along the narrative. With a few minor changes it could prove interesting for its intended audience - the teens and young adults who like a light hearted, not so deep, paranormal genre.
Cute and mysterious!
Tiny seeks Mel out when he sees the ghost of a little girl at the library. Mel goes to check things out when things take an unexpected turn... Mel is just minding her business, talking to three mischievous little girls, when BAM! Someone is murdered practically before her eyes! So now does she not only have the three little ghosts to take care of, but she also decides to investigate the murder of this woman. Yes, Detective Shorts told her to stay out of it, and yes, Mel decided to investigate anyway. Lol.
This one was SO cute! The little girls so adorable and so much fun, messing with Tiny and even Detective Shorts. Ha! The whole reason wy the little girls were still around really pulled at my heart strings, so I really enjoyed seeing how they would get their ending.
Full of mischievousness, mystery, and intrigue, this series is a must read if you are looking for something fun yet suspenseful! Best part is that these could be read as standalones, if you wish! But trust me when I see you do not want to miss out on the other books in this series ;)
What a Mystery!!
This book in the series will take you from a biker being scared of spirit(funny), to a bank robber(heartfelt) with an happiness of a family. Book four in the series will not let you down. I can't wait to began book five. Keep up the great writing Janet McNulty. I am totally addicted to Mellows mishaps and ghostly encounters, and not to forget her array of friends.
