An ancient and powerful magic gem has been found and is wanted by necromancers to further their evil schemes. Can Evan Pierce, a demon hunter and priest of St. Michael, protect the gem and keep the necromancers from wreaking havoc in the kingdom?
Twenty-five years ago, invaders captured Andropolis, the capital of Thalacia, and ended the rule of King Leonard. According to prophecy, the invaders can be ousted and the royal line restored only by wielding the Aglaril, seven elven gems of unprecedented power.
However, the circlet in which the gems were set was destroyed millennia ago and the gems lost. At least, that was the common belief. Evan Pierce, a priest of St. Michael, discovers one of the gems belongs to the town jeweler. He also uncovers a plot to steal the gem and does what he can to keep it safe. But it is not enough.
Now, Evan must recover the gem by relying on a motley group of adventurers for help. Together, they must overcome a series of obstacles or humanity's one hope for restoring the royal line will be lost forever.

Five-star review
The 5th star is not hyperbolic. I am not saying Mr Feitelberg is Dostoevsky or Melville, but... while I enjoyed the story, as a long-time DM/GM I have to give it extra points for this: The events in the novel are very playable in a game. It is very easy for the busy GM to enjoy reading this book for its own sake, and then to get inspired by the events described, It would be easy to supplement the Friday night game with many of the encounters and characters in the book. I'm a busy guy these days, so when my entertainment does double-duty and saves me trouble, that's worth extra points!

Possibly one of the best books I have read so far this year and the best fantasy I have read in a while. This book read surprisingly quick, it is easily appropriated for younger readers even early teens but it still very much so appeals to adults. There was not a lot of detailed world building that you normally expect, it just naturally flows and you learn as you read but do not feel lost at any point. There are a wide variety of characters, each with their own clear back story. There are several storylines going on at once but they mesh so well you do not feel you need to keep track of them. This was a very well written fantasy novel and now I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!
Kali's Review
As I read Aure, the Topaz I couldn't help but be reminded of my teenage dungeons crawls playing Dungeons and Dragons with my friends. Intriguing adventure story. Some of the characters are stronger than others. I can see them coming into their own in future books. The setting is familiar with its own unique history. It is a great story for bringing back nostalgic feelings of playing role-playing games late into the night; revisiting characters as if they were old friends, remembering twisting and turning adventures, and reliving epic failures along with colossal successes.
What if all objects had a "consciousness" and were aware of the world around them? What if they could talk to each other? Award-winning author Deborah K. Frontiera answers this hypothetical what-if in an intriguing way as the items in a pawnshop come
The ancient kings of Whitehawk were all too aware of the temptation of magic. They could feel its threat, a presence in their courts, a serpent slithering at their feet, even entering into their beds.
