Together with his best friend Chuck, he runs a small hotel and spends his days fishing and sailing in a sun-drenched tropical paradise. When Shelby encounters Jeannine, a beautiful French scientist on sabbatical in the islands, his tranquil life will be forever changed. And with danger looming on the horizon, Shelby must make some difficult decisions about the direction his life will take.

On the main street of the town where Shelby McKeever lived there was a rather large two-story Victorian house, well-kept and painted a pale tropical green. The front garden featured a large flowering Allamanda tree and a path of smooth, flat stones that led to the raised front porch. The French doors were often left open to allow the trade winds to cool the house.
The first floor of the house served as the offices of Vincent Ainsworth esq., Attorney at Law, who came to the island from Spanish Town, Jamaica, and made a comfortable living serving as counsel to the largest of the local sugar cane planters and handling the legal affairs of the more affluent expatriates. It was Sunday and Vincent was sleeping late in the upstairs apartments where he lived, and so was unaware of the many islanders stopping in throughout the day to consult the large and detailed globe that stood beside his secretary’s empty desk. The amount of traffic from the front door to the globe was evident from the number of smudged prints caused by bare feet on the polished wooden floor, the presence of which would
puzzle Vincent’s cleaning lady the following morning. On this day the globe was of particular interest to those who had been born in the islands and had never found reason to leave. They arrived singly and in small groups, gathering around to study the globe and speak in low tones. They wanted to see for themselves where Pearl Harbor was.

Allows the reader to escape
On Island Time is an excellent story that allows the reader to escape while enjoying imagery and characters that are simply likable. The only complaint I have about the book is that it ended too soon! I wanted to keep reading and wasn't ready to put it down - this is when I know I've really enjoyed a book. Definitely a good read!
Great short read
Very entertaining book. The author writes in a way that puts you right there with the characters. Good short read for all.
