Darlington wants young readers to keep in mind that when they set their minds to do something, if they keep trying, they can eventually achieve it and overcome the bully.

Darlington wrote the books based on personal experiences and from the challenges of other children. Her goal is to continue the sequel, using the Layla character to help encourage children by shedding some light on how to approach a dilemma with positive solutions.
