Studying the life of David will not turn you into a fierce manly warrior.  You won’t grow a beard or feel the need to savagely eat a turkey leg and laugh loudly with a mouth full of food.  You shouldn’t, anyway.  God created you to be a girl, and as you study the life of David, a girl you will stay.  However, there will be some changes going on in your life.  You will know God more, and this will forever change your whole life.  He has some wonderful things to show you.  When you know God more, you’ll know yourself more, because God will show you what an amazing young woman He created. 

David is known as “a man after God’s own heart.”  God wants us to know Him completely, which means knowing His heart.  It’s like knowing a best friend.  You may know where she lives, her name, and her age; but you also know what she likes, and what she doesn’t like.  You know what is in her heart!

You may know that our Heavenly Father resides in heaven.  You may know Him as the Creator; but do you know what He likes, what He loves, what He dislikes, and what He hates?  Do you know what makes God smile, and what breaks His heart?  Do you want to search for God’s heart, as David did?...

Your first step should be taken with your Bible, opened in your hands.   We need to read this big love letter that He wrote to us.  As you search for God’s heart by reading your Bible, God will draw your heart closer to His own.
