Payden Beck begins his first week after graduating police academy as a phase-one field trainee under the tutelage of Richard LaMont, an experienced, older field-training officer (FTO) who distributes justice on his own terms and keeps the world at bay.
When his FTO invites Payden home for dinner, and to meet his eccentric, much-younger wife, Ana, at the end of their first week working together, Payden feels as if he's living his dream. Richard has taken him under his wing. Even better, Ana approves.
Richard is called in to work on a mysterious assignment over the weekend, but Payden is happy to stay at their home, per his request, and watch over Ana, even if he isn't quite sure why Richard has to leave. The weekend is pleasant, sterile, and he's able to return home on Sunday with another mark in his FTO's plus column, but....
When Richard is found dead at his kitchen table on Monday morning, Payden's dream becomes a nightmare. While he can easily exclude himself as a suspect with his superiors, his time spent with Ana, and the strange relationships Richard has within the department, won't let him go quite so easily. Payden soon realises why his FTO was so intensely personal about his life, and the more he learns—with Ana by his side—the deeper the mystery of Richard's murder becomes.
Nothing is ever what it seems, and every revelation in the investigation of Richard's murder leads to greater confusion. Things can seem perfect... even as they become inescapably horrifying.

Good Read
10-30: A Riveting Crime Mystery is a murder thriller story. Having read previous works from this author, I knew from the start that I was in for a beautiful story. Payden Becks has recently joined the police force. He works under an older, more experienced field trained officer named, Richard. Richard is married to Ana, and the three of them get to become close to a point where Richard even asks Payden to watch over his wife when he is called in for an assignment.
Richard is murdered, and that is where the story takes an interesting turn. Payden and Anna work together in discovering what really happened and why Richard is gone. The more they investigate, the deeper the story goes.
I found the book to be very intense. Being a crime mystery story, I was expecting it to be as such. The literature not only was descriptive to its nature of standing, but it also defined the feelings and interactions between the characters to a very natural way. The prospect of knowing how and why the murder has happened was exciting to me, and I believe the author took great consideration towards making sure there weren’t any loopholes.
I recommend this to murder mystery fans and people who like to read intense storylines.

Michael Golvach is the highly acclaimed, award-winning author of a short story anthology and several full-length novels. My first Michael Golvach book “Bloody Gullets”, was a collection of horror stories that describe the deepest, darkest conditions of the human mind and all the damage the psychologically impaired can inflict upon other humans. I followed that with his first full-length novel, “Fix.” Again, I was captivated by his depth of knowledge into the human psyche. Character David Fitz leads us through a series of events fraught with betrayal and paranormal occurrences that result in unspeakable horror and violence.
Now, with “10-30,” Golvach has pulled another, differently colored rabbit out of the proverbial hat. The blood, violence, and horror I’d become accustomed to in a Golvach story was missing, but his intuitive knowledge into the human psyche was front and center, and absolutely spellbinding. “10-30” is a psychological and character driven story of a strange attraction and a love affair between Payden, a rookie cop, and Ana (pronounced Awna), the wife of his training officer, Richard. I guarantee the events leading to the surprising conclusion of this story will have you turning pages, missing meals and sleep. Golvach is among the best, up-and-coming writers I’ve had the pleasure of reading. Golvach’s ability to reach deeply into the human psyche and put the emotions of several characters into an intriguing tale of mind-boggling twists and turns is uncanny. He is a wordsmith and plotter extraordinaire. You’ll never regret reading one of his books and “10-30” is surely his best yet.
