If I get to vote for Poet Laureate of Movies, Betty Jo Tucker is in!
--- Artist/Poet/Author Judy Joy Jones

If ever there was a Poet Laureate of the Movies, Betty Jo Tucker should receive that coveted award. --- Grace Blair, Award-winning author of Einstein’s Compass: A YA Time Traveler Adventure

Poet Laureate of Movies is a most befitting title for Betty Jo Tucker, beloved by all and humbled by the films and filmmakers that have been memorialized in her poems! --- Gail Parenteau, Producer and Public Relations Strategist.

Excerpt
Some movies seem like poetry in motion to me, mostly because the filmmakers involved tell their stories using beautiful images backed up by haunting background music and scenes that pack an emotional wallop. One recent example is At Eternity’s Gate starring Willem Dafoe as painter Vincent Van Gogh. After watching this remarkable film, I was motivated to write a poem about the movie.

It’s time to praise Willem Dafoe
for his work as Vincent Van Gogh.
Watching “At Eternity’s Gate,”
we see painting as Vincent’s fate.

Lush with color and shapes unique,
such artistry for one to seek!
His sunflowers and starry skies
now please most everybody’s eyes.

Lush with color and shapes unique,

His sunflowers and starry skies

Scenes touch something down deep inside,
seeing how Vincent lived and died.

For the past few years, I have added poems to my movie reviews. Perhaps that’s why some of my fans and colleagues have started calling me “Poet Laureate of the Movies.” At first, I thought it was a joke, but now I feel honored even to be mentioned in that way. In fact, I have done a bit of research about this topic.

In Cinema Stanzas Two: Poet Laureate of the Movies, Betty Jo Tucker has reviewed all the movies we wish we had seen, but didn't in our busy lives that take us far from the movie theater. I've always relied on reviews by critics before I spent my good money in the theater on a movie if I could. With this sourcebook of 70 movies one can pick out the movies that you would like to watch from some of the several sources available online and watch the movie, assured that Betty Jo has told you what you need to know before spending money or clicking on a link.

Betty Jo and her husband are avid moviegoers. Not only that, but she does her research and takes very detailed notes before writing reviews that are so easy to read and clear that there is no question about what the movie is about and what the characters are into, without spoiling the movie one bit. To top that off, Betty Jo adds little tidbits about the actors and even some of her personal insights which make the reviews all the more personal and adorable.

Betty Jo has a love for poetry. Since her first book of Cinema Stanzas, she finds time to write a perfectly rhymed 3 to 5 stanza poem about every movie that she reviews. She is fast becoming as well known for her poetry as she is for the reviews. You can’t go wrong with Betty Jo's help when it comes to choosing movies to watch. Don't waste time, catch up on the movies you missed, using her books as a guide.

Ronald W. Hull is author of his autobiography, Hanging by a Thread, and 10 other novels and books of short stories.
