My Promise
When we say “I promise you,” we commit to love and protect our loved ones. In this instance, I’m talking about the unspoken but implicit promise we make when we bring a pet into our home and
the responsibilities we take on when we accept it as a member of our family.
Animals are kind creatures that love unconditionally. They don’t care about our social status or the riches we may or may not enjoy. They never complain about their living conditions either. An animal would never leave its owner’s side, even if it was hungry or didn’t have a comfortable place to live. They hold on to their owner because their
bond is one of love and loyalty.
That’s why I find it incomprehensible when people abuse animals. I ask myself, if an animal is always willing to offer us respect and affection, why is it so hard for us to return the same consideration? Just like a child, a pet brings beauty and joy into our lives and, in many cases, healing. They can be funny, curious, and mischievous, and they always surprise us with their personality quirks! The life of an animal is equally sacred and valuable. Pets and animals in general aim to please their guardians. They don’t expect or demand much of us but they depend on us to provide the basics: food, water, and security.
Through this very personal point of view, I would like to share my experiences of rescuing animals in need but most importantly, the simple steps we can take to eradicate the overpopulation, abandonment, and abuse of pets. It is almost impossible to save all the homeless animals we encounter but it certainly is possible to educate the public as to WHY the problem exists and HOW to stop the chain reaction that ends in abandonment. I do hope you’ll
find the information offered here of help and please, share it with someone else.
