Beth felt her heart leap in her chest. She tucked the camera back into her pocket. Who could it be? Probably the superintendent. He was responding to her call. Now, she was trapped with this mad-man and there was no way to escape. Why hadn’t she thought to bring a weapon? She had no way to defend herself. All she could do was hope.
She turned and stepped out of the furnace room, bracing herself for an attack. Yes, it was Perez. In his hands, he was carrying a big heavy metal wrench.

Beth Murphy, tenant activist, organizes her fellow renters to get repairs done and improve living conditions at Quercus Gardens. Soon, stories of murder and who is guilty reach Beth's ears. Her job as an activist appears dangerous as fear spreads. Lucky for her, many of the tenants offer support and lend a hand. As work crews arrive and rents get raised, another issue develops regarding evictions. Resolution comes when the truth is finally revealed.
Enjoyable and light reading. A fun-to-read mystery that can be educational for those wanting to get involved in renter's rights. The only downside is that the story ends too soon. I would like to hear more about Beth's activism and the lives of the people she meets along the way.
This is the story of Beth Murphy's first steps into activism to help make the apartments in her complex livable for all the tenants. The premise that one person can make a difference comes to life in this publication.
The murder of Mrs. Mary Milligan at the complex is a rumor that Beth tries to solve.
The suspicion for the murder of Mary has been placed on the super of the complex is as puzzling as it turns out to be -- devious. The realization of the machinations of one person and how it affects so many....
While a mystery, this author has kept this book appealing with the reader engaged and wondering where the story is going to end up.
Would highly recommend for all ages. 'Mystery of Quercus Gardens' would make a great gift.
