It Takes A Cat, is a tribute to EsthersChild's beloved Calico, a rescued kitty. This colorful volume, filled with photos, is a collection of blogs written over a period of three years. Some pages are verbatim though most have been reworked for clarity and coherence. She says that writing a blog is a relaxed endeavor; writing a book calls for greater diligence. It's like the difference between a paper napkin and linen.

It all started when I told my then husband I longed for cat fur, meaning I needed a cat. His objection was that cats claw furniture. So I let it go until one day, featured in the local newspaper, I saw her. Up for adoption by the local animal shelter, she was beautiful –and had been completely declawed!
When I went to see her it was love at first sight. A calico just a year old, she was a fluffy, fetching little feline with an unfortunate history—she peed in the beds of the children who owned her. A veterinarian had determined there were no physical issues to explain her peeing habit. So the shelter decided that, if not adopted because of her problem, she would be destroyed. In two weeks.
Rosetta was born in 1909 as the youngest of ten children. The family had more laughter than money and neighbors would knock on their door to ask, "Can we come in and laugh, too?"
