We begin as enormous, rough gemstones pulled from the deepest depths of the universe. These towering boulders could hardly be called jewels but with time they will show their true worth.
Through the steady hands of an artisan, the masterful craftsman undertakes the task of shaping us every minute of every day. Using the tools of that are our victories, regrets, joy, loss, hopes, dreams, and despair does the artist set about his work. Piece by piece, our experiences shave off the smallest slivers of rock.
Miniscule are the missing minute flakes of us that drift softly to the ground.
Relentlessly the artist attacks the monolith day and night with the only noticeable change appearing when the many days have become the many years. You may go decades without seeing how your stone has transformed and be taken back by the direction the artist has taken. Only when the artist, Father Time, has put down his tools and steps away will we see the brilliant gem that we once thought was ugly rock. (continues)
