At this point in my life, things just weren’t going as I had always imagined they would. You know what I’m talking about. We all have this idea about how things will turn out - at least I did, and this just wasn’t part of the plan.
My life was about to change forever, and there was nothing I could do about it.
I was finally brought to a cell in the older part of the jail. As I am entering this hell hole for the first time, I am quickly greeted by the houseman, who is holding an odd-looking stick.
The houseman is the guy in charge of the cell. He’s usually somebody who’s been in the longest or is considered the toughest dude in the joint. To my great relief, the stick turned out to be the tool he used for turning the channels on the TV, which was located on the other side of the bars. Better that than a whipping stick for new inmates like myself.
I no sooner took a deep cleansing breath than I heard: "Hey, this is the guy on the news," the houseman yelled out to the other guys as he took a long hard look at my face.
