Excerpt
The sword sliced through the air, removing a few strands of hair from Katie's ponytail. She ducked low, stabbing forward with her own weapon. The older man barely blocked the aggressive attack, jumping back, boots sliding across the wet grass. Katie pressed onward with wild curls falling in her face, and blood-filled eyes that darted around looking for every possible outcome to the conflict she faced.
The man lifted his sword, spinning in a half circle, the tip of the blade slicing through the air like a well-rehearsed dance move. Katie ducked again, lifting her sword to deflect any follow-up moves. The sword clashed with the blade of the man's weapon. Sparks showered into the air, electric sprinkles hanging over the battlefield.
