Excerpt
“Well,” Roger continues speaking, looking directly at you, “this is where I ask you the question. What sounds like a reasonable deduction from all the evidence?”
You answer, “The actor did it. Without a doubt.”
“What then, do you imagine, because we can never be absolutely sure, happened based on the evidence we have?”
“There is a lot here,” you say. “More evidence than I have ever seen, in any case that I have ever worked or even heard of, that points all in one direction.”
“The evidence shows that the actor, reeling from a breakup and banished from his kids, made a deliberate plan, including clothing, timing, and weapons, to murder his ex-wife. He uses a knife he has, wears a seaman’s cap and expensive gloves his ex-wife bought for him, and expensive Italian shoes he possesses. The attack escalates when a young waiter arrives, ruining his timing. In the attack, the knife slips and he cut himself; he loses his hat in the fight with the unfortunate male victim and his left glove is ripped away. He flees to the rear parking lot, leaving footprints and drops of his blood.
“He speeds away from the scene, leaving multiple transfers of blood inside his vehicle, and when he returns home, he finds that the limo driver has arrived early and he could not pull into his driveway, so he parks behind the small gate. The actor then exited his vehicle and went into the small gate, leaving the blood drops on the driveway. He then steps behind the pool house and pounds on Robin’s wall to wake him up because he cannot go through the back of the house by the pool due to the only alarm pad being by the front door. He drops the other glove behind the pool house.”
“Then, fearing the time running out before his flight, he sprints across the driveway, unable to avoid the light from the limo, and in the front door. He then looks through the office window at the limo, leaving drops of blood in the foyer. He goes upstairs to his bedroom, turns on the light. He strips off his bloody clothes and put them in a bag but forgot one of his socks. He then went into the bathroom to clean up, leaving more blood transfer.
“He then grabs all of his bags and takes them to the limo, keeping the ‘moon shaped’ with him. At the airport, he ditches the bag, which has his bloody clothes and the knife, into a trash can, and gets on his flight to Chicago.
