Hard to Kill is an old-fashioned Western set in the Wind River Country of Wyoming Territory. It is based upon a brief period in the life of John Wesley Hardin, one of the Old West's most famous gunslingers.
Suffering from amnesia, John Wesley Hardin wakes up in an alley with a hole in his head. Just in time he is rescued from certain death by Jennifer Hadley, who is herself being chased by a mob on horseback.
In time, going by the name of Slim, Hardin learns (but keeps to himself) that he is very much at home with handguns; and since a bloody range war is in progress in the Wind River Country and his pretty rescuer is in serious trouble, he resolves to do what he can to stop the man who is responsible for starting the war.
Slim falls in love with the girl and asks her to marry him--as soon as he finds out who he is.
It is anybody's guess what will happen to this romance if or when Slim and Jennifer find out who he is. Will he still wish to settle down in a small Wyoming town? Will the beautiful Jennifer still wish to be married to this deadly gunman once she knows who he is?

"You're not exactly the ugliest thing I ever saw in pants," Jenny said, walking around the Texan and sizing him up from different angles. "Old Vance is gonna be just a mite jealous, I reckon, when he sees you with me."
"Who's 'Old Vance'?" asked Slim, obviously uncomfortable under Jenny's close scrutiny. "Are we likely to run into him soon?"
