Copyright(c)May 2003 By Janet Sue Terry The coldness of the apartment hit Blake the moment he stepped inside.  The heat was turned on low and the place had an aura of bleakness.  He had tried for almost two years to cope with the pain and uncertainty of Nora's disappearance.  He suddenly realized that he still had a long way to go, for he saw her everywhere he looked. He turned the thermostat up and stood staring out the window at the city lights. He remembered their first night in this apartment.  They had cooked dinner together, then relaxed, and sipped wine as they stared out the window.  Later they had eaten ice cream for dessert.  During those first precious years Nora had always been in this room, on this sofa waiting for him.  She had been a good cook, and enjoyed preparing a balanced dinner for him.   Moving into the now deserted kitchen he checked the refrigerator hoping to find a beer, but it had been cleaned out and left empty.  No doubt Houston Ripley had sent someone over to clean the place up.  He glanced around the apartment noticing that it was not only clean, but gave the appearance of a model home, ready to sell.  He could understand why his attorney and friend would have thought he would want to sell.  However, he was not ready for that.  At least not yet. Blake hurriedly entered the bedroom and jerked the closet doors open.  He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Nora’s clothes still hung where she had left them.  He would have been crazed with anger had the closets been cleaned out.  He pulled a dress from the rack and tossed it across the bed.  Subconsciously he had hoped that Nora would be waiting for him.  He had tried desperately to believe that she was dead but he could not accept it.  Perhaps he had to actually see her body before he could give up all hope.  So many questions remained to be answered.  Would he ever know the truth? He sank down on the bed and pulled her dress over his face.  It still carried her scent.  At least he believed it did.  He remembered how absolutely beautiful she had looked in the dress.  Holding her dress, remembering her, sniffing her perfume, was more than he could bear.  For the first time since her disappearance he began to cry. He did not want to weep, to mourn, because he believed it to be an admission that she was gone, and he would never give up hope.  However, the aching loneliness and worry pained him so deeply that his only release was through his tears.   Note: Please leave a review. "Possibilities is the first in the series, book two will pick up the story as Blake searches for Nora. Writer Terry has produced an interesting page turner sure to keep the reader engrossed. From the opening lines as Nora flees from her attacker right to the last paragraphs as Blake is bereft when he realizes Nora may be gone from his life for good the book moves right along. Characters are well rounded, filled with human frailty, foibles, and imperfection. Dialogue is full of grit, hard hitting, acceptable. Blake is a good foil for the serious Nora. Possibilities is an excellent initial work for this series, the reader is caught up in the tale, then the book ends with the reader wanting to know what happens next."

The author takes you deep inside the heart of Nora, her search for her parents, her battle with her deep seated emotions of rejection. At times your heart goes out to her, at other times you want to tell her to stop using her past as a crutch in her present. It is a sea-saw of emotions.
