Ran is a small boy who is walking to carnival all by himself. The rides, resembling caterpillar, octopus, etc. frighten him. He finds courage in his name which is enclosed in "Tyranosaurous" which is comforting to him.
The author's son, Nicholas, was the painter for the seven drawings in the book, and its cover. Nicholas, in life, was a portrait painter.
This book is dedicated to her two sons, Ran and Nicholas.

buried in a barn. A trial ensues.
