This book is about a five year old boy who is having a hard time making friends with his kindergarten classmates; his name is Johnny Darnell Lumpkin. Johnny is a typical five year old boy who loves to play with cars and trucks, but Johnny always seems to play alone.
Two weeks has passed since school began and Johnny still hasn't made friends with any of his kindergarten classmates, and every day Johnny runs to his teacher complaining to her, that none of the children will play with him. After watching Johnny ignore the boys and girls in his class trying to play with him, his teacher began to suspect Johnny is having trouble hearing them, and so she calls his parents to schedule a meeting so that she can talk to them about her suspicions. It is about a five year old boy who shows compaction towards a homeless classmate and his mom. I would like to make children aware of families who are in the same situation as Rodney and his mom. Also, I would like for my book to inspire children to be kind and helpful to those in need./font>
