A Little Hope A little hope lights the way Where angels linger and play Sweetly serene and loving Sharing their faith . . . inspiring Lighting us from inside out Leaving us no room for doubt A little hope lifts the night Infant angels wing in sight Their tender breath on my cheek Is the tenderness I seek Faith is action not symbol Feeling alive I tremble A little hope is glory Angels know every story Let their light shine in each heart Give each spirit a new start Let the little children lead A pure heart is what we need ********************* Poetry and short stories from this ebook posted | | | | A Touch of the West My second illustrated poetry book is about cowboys, Indians and the wild west.
A Hoot
Laughing is great medicine and easy to swallow.
What a hoot! My chute is plugged
and my tooter’s on the blink.
My hide has withered and fell,
bags ‘neath my eyes have packed . . . hang
and I don’t give a dang!
My headlights have turned about,
now on my back they jut out.
Oh shoot!
What a hoot! My mirror quakes, hides,
“Hi-ho Silver . . . go away.”
Gone too long without hormones
(growing more hair everywhere)
I resemble a bear.
Mud-faced, wild hair, door bell rang . . .

Eggsactly
You are eggsactly
who I’ve been waiting for—
no yolk about it.
You’ve a shell I adore
with an ivory door.
Often when scrambled,
you turn over easy.
Most | | | | Wings Writing, poetry and artwork helped me cope with the void created when my only son was brutally, needlessly, murdered. Doug was 23, engaged to be married, working and happy.
His fiancee's 'other beau', believing Jeanne's lie that she was pregnant and yet Doug would not move their wedding date forward, first shot my son three times with a 22 rifle. After Doug fell to his knees, James approached him from behind, raised an axe and split Doug's head into two pieces to the neck. Thirteen other blows rained down upon my son who, because he was deaf, never heard the attacker and, therefore, made no attempt to defend himself. Dismembered, Doug was buried in James' backyard and was listed as missing until James' mother, concerned that her son was suicidal, called the police. They found my son buried beneath the wood pile in James' backyard. (James is doing 20 years to LIFE.)
This book celebrates Doug's LIFE, the twenty-three years he laughed and lived--with personal photos and tidbits. The love I still have for my son is present as well as my 'thanks' to God for those 23 years.
"Wings" is about love, loss, a broken heart and coping ... going on with life ... without bitterness.
Age Twenty-Three The clock stopped, your heart ceased at age twenty-three. I fell to my knees. “Do hear my plea, Lord. You’ve been through losing a child; we both had only one son. Mine is only twenty-three please . . . reconsider, take me?” Eerie silence weaves through trees, surely He heard me. With the greatest ease He replied aloud. “Dying is not my domain. It’s of nature . . . like the rain. Cherish years, those twenty-three and please do not forsake me.” Our pain rained, a storm seized . . . far as I could see. I rose from my knees, smiling through |
