“Whatever career you may choose for yourself - doctor, lawyer, teacher - let me propose an avocation to be pursued along with it” said Martin Luther King, Jr. I am a technocrat by pursuance and a poet and writer by dream. I started writing poetry from a very young age and the exercise always gave me lots of contentment and satisfaction. Poetry always counterpoised my science and technological pursuits and brought a kind of balance to my life. I found the truth of what the great American poet, Robert Frost (1874-1963) said, “My object in living is to unite, My avocation and my vocation, As my two eyes make one in sight” in my life by the cultivation of poetry as an avocation. I always wrote for my own solace. And I enjoyed writing, it be poetry or prose writings. "Calm Reflections" is my first published poetry collection.

Globalization has brought about several changes for the good as any one can see. Technology, business, development of infrastructure and an umpteen number of other things have been introduced to us by the West. Undeniable. Apart from these, changes have also been made on the social front. Globalization has improved the lives of many a people in our country. Globalization has brought about invaluable changes in the field of science and technology-changes that have changed our world. On the other hand, Globalization also has had a multitude of bad impacts on India. Development has led to pollution and it has also led to the loss of several cultural values. The values associated with one culture i.e. the west has spread all over the world and the culture of several other countries has been lost. An undesirable effect as one can see.
This volume is about all developments rising out of this globalisation phenomenon.

Globalization has brought about several changes for the good as any one can see. Time and world in the current global village concern everybody and everyone, whether young or old must pay at least some attention to correctly gauge the ‘prevailing winds’ blowing in and around the world at that time. The complex nature of the time and the world is very difficult to untangle and hopelessly mired in depths we may not know or things of which we have got no comprehension.
In this book, I have tried to summarize events, situations, personalities, and at occasions, a few stories that bring deeper comprehension of the world and its affairs in the larger canvas of the political and cultural dynamics of the time and their interplays as I see them in moving the world forward. The topics on which I wrote were all topics on which I felt rather strongly about or topics that I felt important. I hope they are enjoyed and appreciated by all those who read them.

Digital Watermarking is the process of irreversibly embedding information into a digital signal. The signal may be audio, pictures or video. There are two types of Watermarking, Visible Watermarking and Invisible Watermarking. In Visible Watermarking, the information is visible in the picture or video. Typically, the information is text or a logo which identifies the owner of the media. Example of Visible Watermark is when a television broadcaster adds its logo to the corner of transmitted video. In Invisible Watermarking, information is added as digital data to audio, picture or video, but it cannot be perceived as such (although it is possible to detect the hidden information).
Digital Watermarking schemes are widely being used as potential solution for ownership protection. The Watermarking algorithms in general, may be viewed as digital communication scheme for imperceptible transmission of an auxiliary message through cover image. Several software implementations of the proposed algorithms are available, but very few attempts have been made for the property of robustness and they are not able to provide the good visual Recovery Watermark Image (IWD) as user aspect. This is accomplished by spreading one watermark bit over many samples of the Cover data using a modulated spreading sequence.
This is a study of this technology.

The need for underwater wireless communications exists in applications such as remote control in off-shore oil industry, pollution monitoring in environmental systems, collection of scientific data recorded at ocean-bottom stations, speech transmission between divers, and mapping of the ocean floor for detection of objects, as well as for the discovery of new resources. Wireless underwater communications can be established by transmission of acoustic waves.
Underwater communications, which once were exclusively military, are extending into commercial fields. The possibility to maintain signal transmission, but eliminate physical connection of tethers, enables gathering of data from submerged instruments without human intervention, and unobstructed operation of unmanned or autonomous underwater vehicles (UUVs , AUVs).
This is a study of the technology.
