43-year-old county prosecutor, Stan Kobe, living in the Arizona Witness Protection program since the age of thirteen, is forced to confront his past when former Chicago gang-members are arrested south of Phoenix. Stan, now known as "Maricopa County's Most Ruthless Prosecutor," is compelled to return to his hometown where as a boy he witnessed the murder of the last surviving member of the infamous 1919 Black Sox baseball team. First, though, he’ll have to gain the help of one of the gang at the attack, an identity Stan has kept secret for 30 years, and now a front-runner to be chosen as Democratic candidate for President of the United States.
