Set on the distant island of Fairlon, here is a fantasy adventure that is wonderfully different, although in ways it is also faintly familiar.

If you think about it, a ship and her crew can easily be seen as a micrososm of how a nation should go about its business, The three parts of a person--strength, mind, and heart--are each called on by a sailor, and if that mariner is encouraged to readily use all three parts, then that sailor will be most able. Imagine then, what a ship crewed by such sailors would be like, especially if that ship is endeavoring to preserve the nation represented by its flag. A monster snowstorm, a much different time, a much different era, people facing adversity, people learning what's important, a wide-ranging cast of characters including a young woman overcoming an inner turmoil, all of that and still more.
Having read Arthur Hailey's "Airport" and "Hotel", I wanted to try a novel that also drew together a wide-ranging cast of characters. "Snowstorm" is the result, while it also draws on my own experiences during Chicago's great snowstorm of 1967, as well as on my familiarity with the city and its North Shore environs.
