Jack Singleton is studying law at Oxford when he meets Diana through a rich acquaintance, Bart. It is the tyrannical Gawain Belvedere’s birthday. His friends and family gather for the evening at Luscombe Manor. After dinner the sound of smashing glass and shouting is heard from the library.
