A 21 year collection of poetry that is written from the prospective of an abuse survivor, during each stage of abuse. From when the abuse began, to the flashbacks that still haunt her, Mrs. Martin's writings bring one to feel the same anger and emotions that she felt. Anger seethed from every inch of her body. I knew better to get in her way, yet I wanted to protect Sissy, for I knew that she would be the target of Mother’s rage. It was always directed at one of us, but usually Sissy. My dad was no longer around to protect us, so it was me who had to step in, even though it was I who usually ended up getting the worst end of Mother’s wrath.
