Says author Gene Hull about his contemporary poetry: I like poems of today that tell stories, have a sense of pulse, interesting sound, and even emotional adventure.
They may rhyme or may not, or be a combination of both. Obviously, good poems require thought in order to be fully enjoyed and appreciated. However, in my opinion, obliqueness does not make a poem better, and I don’t believe we should have to be steeped in historical reference or need a degree in cryptology to understand them. Poems do not have to complicated to be rich in meaning. |
