Myrtle and maude are two happy cows who love to eat sweet green grass all the time. Farmer Jake is happy that they love to eat grass all the time as well because the more grass the cows eat, the more milk they make for him to sell. Parents are happy the more grass the two cows eat as the more milk Farmer Jake has to sell means more milk that they can buy for their children. Kids are happy that Myrtle and Maude eat lots of green grass and make lots of good milk for Farmer Jake to sell to their parents for them to drink. So everyone is happy! Myrtle and Maude are the happiest of all!

Rodney is a lonely gray squirrel who lives in a hollow tree. The only visitors he ever saw were the six fat hogs in Old man Tom's hog pen and an occasional sighting of Old man Tom himself. This is the story of Old man Tom and how he befriends Rodney the lonely squirrel and his wife Rachel squirrel. It is a humorous story of the squirrel couple and how they raise their little family in the tree by Old man Tom's pig pen.
"He looked up and there was Rodney frozen with fear.
"Well, well," said Old man Tom, "What have we here? A little gray squirrel. Hey, little fewllow, I'll call you Rodney."
True to form, Rodney ran to the other side of the tree. He peeped out from tim to time, only to find the old man still there. |
