Storytelling for the African family is like watching a movie on a family channel. It involves interest, concentration, a good storyline, an excellent narrator with strong voice management skills. Like the main actor in a movie, the narrator must be agile and melodramatic—he must be able to move, use stunts, engage the audience in the action, sing, and raise and drop his voice according to the story. Because 99 percent of the characters--mainly heroes and villains—are animals, the narrator must imitate their sounds and actions, convincing the audience that he is in fact the animal.

The Unpaid Dowry is a twenty-four `chapter historical fiction designed for your adult audience. I grew up in the village surrounded by forests and grasslands in Cameroon. The story reflects the day-to-day lives of the villagers in the Kom kingdom today, a society, set up in the 17th Century. The kom people, a Bantu tribe (with the majority now living in Southern Africa) emigrated from Sudan and Ethiopia more than nine centuries ago. The story was inspired by my visits to my grandfather’s compound that died at the age of 108. He had six wives and fifty-five children.

The book ddresses the traumatic effects of war, warfare and civil unrest especially in Eastern Europe, Africa and Middle East on a young American couple. Many poems specifically describe the situation in Israel, Palestine, Iraq and Kuwait.
Half of the poems describe the plight of a soldier during war reminiscing about his fiancée, family, home and country. There's monologue and dialogue between him and her as they send romantic messages to and read from each other. The second half deals with the persona's outlandish attitude toward war in general. He criticizes the institutions and ideologies that promote war, anguish, mayhem and bloodshed while celebrating the virtues of humanity and peace--love of country, goodness through filial and erotic love and the power of sanity (war-free mentality).
