strong>em>Shepherd's Quest/em>/strong> begins a story about three lads from the small town of Quillim. When one stumbles upon an ancient burial tomb, he and the others soon discover they have found the entrance to the fabled King's Horde. A place reputed to hold a vast fortune.
However, before they can gain access to the Horde, they first must recover the segments of a key which will open the sigil inscribed portal guarding it. One segment was found in the hands of a long dead th | |  | | 2-Hunter of the Horde: Book Two of The Broken Key Trilogy Joined now by a fourth companion, the lads continue thier quest for the lost segments of the key. Riyan and Chad join the Warriors Guild, while Kevik works to leave the appelation of 'Apprentice Magic User' behind. Riyan discovers a clue in the Guild's archives revealing a possible clue where the next segment may lay. But before they can leave, he and Chad must attain the rank of Armsmem, and Kevik has to prove himself in the Tower of the Magi.
All this is hamprered by Durik, a ruthless Hunter of the Horde, who will stop at nothing to learn what the companions may know.
Riyan, Chad, and Bart continued their quest with the aid of their newfound companion, Kevik. Recently bereft of his master, Kevik struggled on his own to learn his craft and to put the appellation of ‘Apprentice’ behind him. Though lacking in confidence, his ability to creatively utilize what few spells he has mastered has came in handy time and again. What they had feared most has come to pass. Word that they may have found the King’s Horde had begun to spread. Now, it has reached the ears of one who will stop at nothing to discover what they know. Rumors that the King's Horde has been found have begun to spread. Their once tranquil hometown of Quillim has now become a magnet for those who seek the Horde. Here in the conclusion of The Broken Key the location of the fourth and last coat of arms from The Crypt has been located. Unfortunately it lies beyond the Moran Tribes' border. That inconsequential detail will hardly deter Riyan and the rest from traveling there in the hopes of uncovering the last segment of the Key which they hope will open the King's Horde.Unbeknownst to our heroes, more people have begun to learn of their quest and have gravitated to Quillim in search of answers. Jaikus and Reneeke are ordinary lads whose dream in life is to become members of The Adventurer's Guild. But to become a member, they must be able to lay claim to an Adventure, and not just any adventure. To qualify, an Adventure must entail the following:
1-Have some element of risk to life and limb.br />
2-Successfully concluded. If the point of the Adventure was to recover a stolen silver candelabra, then you better have that candelabra in hand when all is said and done.br />
3-A reward must be given. For what good is an Adventure if you don't get paid for your troubles?

Once the spring thaw begins and the passes are once more clear, he leads all but a few from The Ranch over the mountains into Madoc. Beginning at Lythylla, the capitol of Madoc, he sets into motion events which he believes will drive the Empire from Madoc’s soil. The quest to find a friend whose life hangs by a thread, leads James and Jiron back into the heart of the Empire. The impetus behind the hunt is not as it would seem. James is ultimately maneuvered to face the power behind the Empire, a dark being whose orchestration of peoples and powers has brought the world to the point of annihilation. Through the machinations of an old enemy, James is summoned to appear before the Royal Court of Cardri. While there he meets with Ellinwyrd who aids him in deciphering the riddle discovered in the city of Saragon, sending him a scroll with but one word, 'Ironhold'. Having grown in the mastery of magic, he devises more intriguing and helpful devices to aid him in his quest. Old friends resurface as he continues in the search for the lost priests of Morcyth. Hunting for the location of 'Ironhold' he unravels more of the mystery as to why he is there.

Little did James realize when he answered the ad in the paper that he would be thrust into the middle of an adventure that will test the limits of his intelligence and courage. Not given any sort of explanation why he has been brought to this world, James, a high school senior, must discover the reason. James begins experimenting with magic in order to use it to aid in the hiding of the Fire. The quest for answers eventually draws James and Jiron to the enemy occupied town of Saragon, where they've been told the last High Priest of Morcyth had been born. Four people awake in an underground room. When James destroyed the Iron Mines at Sorna in a mammoth volcanic eruption after rescuing Miko from his enslavement, massive tsunamis wreaked havoc all along the Empire’s coastland.
