Following clues he'd ignored for years Fred Gray a Korean War Veteran and life long cattle rancher makes an unbelievable discovery on his land. The old man soon reveals the secret--to a very select group of people--that unintentionally unleashes a wave of events that change the lives of everyone in the room in ways they could never imagine. A trusted ranch hand is murdered, Gray's granddaughter is abducted and the rancher's discovery is the required ransom. This tale weaves through feelings of excitment, bewilderment, fear, saddness, regret and triumph. In the end a heavy price was demanded but the reward was proportionate.
This four-hundred page novel by author Marvin Wiebener is a yarn about hardship, sacrifice, love of family, greed and discovery. It is a thriller in every sense of the word. The setting is a cattle ranch in northwest Oklahoma, the year 2007. An archaeologist and his wife become reluctant protagonist, the small town sheriff, a journalism intern and finally the FBI join forces to bring this wonderful story turned hopelessly dreadful to a satisfying conclusion, a conclusion you won't expect.
