"Central-Europe Through the Eye of International Artists" was published by the HMC (Hungarian Multicultural Center, Inc.) for the 10th anniversary of the residency program and resulted in an exhibition at the KEKI Gallery, Budapest.
In the book, you can see how the residency artists were influenced by Balatonfured's landscape and inhabitants and read feedback from the artists. In the introduction, the Art Historian, Dr. Katalin Geller said "Beata Szechy is a cultural missionary, who has slowly built a mountain and a bridge between continents. This book is a witness to her mission."
Most of the artwork in this book is different to Central-European traditions. The installations, performances and paintings force one to reflect on the new wave of contemporary art.
The HMC goal is to promote cultural exchange between the United States and Hungary in the fields of visual and performing arts and to serve as a resource center. The HMC is a 501(C)(3) non-profit organization, based in Dallas, Texas and Budapest, Hungary. The HMC opened in 1990 as an artistic, educational institution. We are invited artists, writers, film makers who play an active part in the field of contemporary art.
