Two years after earning a business degree from the University of Colorado, Trent Newcomer decided to abandon his corporate job, sell his car, and travel around the globe  with nothing more than a vague itinerary and what he could fit into a small backpack. A year and a half later, after traveling through the South Pacific and Australia, then across Asia and down through Africa, he decided return to the United States and settle into a "normal" life. Soon thereafter, he heard the world calling to him again and realized that he was not the answer to the question: "Who wants to lead a "normal" life, anyway?" He left the United States again and traveled through South and Central America before returning to the mountains of Colorado to work as Wrangler at a luxury dude ranch. Then, he joined his family's funeral business (for two years) - before deciding to return to school to become a veterinarian.  He currently practices veterinary medicine in Colorado, where he lives with his wife and three stepchildren. His first book, The Call of the World: A Young Man's Journey of Discovery, was published in January of 2009 and recounts the adventures he had while backpacking solo around the globe, as well as his journey of personal discovery.
