My literary background really isn't much to speak of at this point, I've never even considered myself much of a reader.  I've always liked the novels by the late great master, Sidney Sheldon.  And I've enjoyed books by Lawrence Sanders and a few others as well.  My major influence, however, wasn't a particular author or group of authors, but rather anyone who'd share a personal story that was told in a way as to help others.  Life changing stories, stories of beating the odds, stories of ordinary people in extraordinary situations. Also, my Mom and Dad are great christians who have displayed incredible faith and determination against sometimes unbelievable odds.  They have always been the greatest influence on my life, and it's their example and faith that was key in my decision to want to share my story. My main motivation for writing Grace For The Prodigal was exactly that, to share my story.  Not that I'm anybody important, but rather that I'm just like the guy next door.  I'm a regular guy who faced the same problems, life choices, and struggles that everyone faces.  The difference was in how I handled those struggles and demons.  Consequently, I wanted to write my story in the hopes that others will read it and learn from it, so they won't have to go through what I have gone through.  Call it a short cut to inner peace and joy. I now live on the gulf coast of Alabama, where the weather is warm and the people are too.  I am blessed with the most supportive wife in the world, as well as two great teenage children.  I truly am a blessed man.
