I am a life-time writer and new author. Writing has always been an important part of my life; it is the perfect outlet for expressing your feelings and thoughts.
My first book, not my daughter not only tells the heartbreaking personal story of my experiences with my daughter's heroin addiction, but it also exposes the consequences of a loved ones substance addiction and the way the disease works and its impact on families. It is a fair cross-section of what families face. Our struggles are real and offer a human characterization of the depths of this malady. Heroin addiction is a hunter of souls bent on destroying lives. It has destroyed mine and my family. I believe that heroin hooks those who try it, dooming them to ruin and even death. Those who try heroin have no choice-- they become addicted, junkies for life. Heroin use is a junkie's profession.
During my writing of this book, the one thing that never left my mind was the pain of all the parents who have lost their children to drug addiction. I felt while writing this story and still feel today, a heaviness for all the losses and heartache.
I am currently working on creating my second book, a children's book, not yet titled. I look forward to developing the characters and seeing where they will take me. It is based on my grandchildren and is about three very special fairies and how they put their fairy skills to use.
