Growing up in Southern California, Joshua Dagon was always atypical.  He didn't surf, he hated the beach, and he was less athletically adroit than most coma patients.  A voracious reader, JD instead found comfort and enrichment in fiction.  He grew up reading authors such as Stephen King, Anne Rice, James Clavell, J.R.R. Tolkien, Bram Stoker, and Harper Lee.   He was never a popular child and so spent most of his intellectual resources finding ways to avoid being beaten up by roving gangs of surf Nazis who were mortally threatened by guys with no tan and the ability to properly use words with more than three syllables. During his late teens and continuing through to his mid-twenties, JD pursued a variety of jobs in entertainment, which included dinner theater, dance instruction, fitness modeling, opera, stand-up comedy, go-go dancing, background work in commercials and mainstream cinema, fitness training, and, of course, waiting tables. JD’s first literary accomplishment was Boxes, a play that ran at the Village Theater at the University of California, Irvine, in the early nineties. The play was not written out of any burning desire to establish a career as a writer, but to create a vehicle in which JD could perform with entertainers he greatly admired, such as Stephanie Block, Grace Ward, and Phillip Park, all of whom studied voice with the same coach as Mr. Dagon. Beginning in 1997, JD published articles in Circuit Noize Magazine as a humorist, specializing in social observation and media satire. His work in publishing was still no more than an avocation until 1999 when JD’s pursuit of show business success came to a tragic end. It was then that writing became his sole source of artistic expression. Joshua Dagon’s first novel, The Fallen, was published by Breur Media Corporation in 2006. It was very well received despite Mr. Dagon’s lack of a formal training or education. His much anticipated second novel, Demon Tears, was published in 2007 to even more critical approval. His most recent novel, Into the Mouth of the Wolf, was released in 2008, receiving both broad commercial and critical success. Mr. Dagon published an e-book series that included two novelettes and three short stories in 2009. His current project is a new novel titled Images and Whispers, which he is composing while pursuing his BA in literature as well as writing a regular newspaper column.

Joshua Dagon performed in his own comedy/variety show at Luna Park in West Hollywood when he was barely twenty-one. The show ran for two months. He has lived all over Southern California and now resides in Las Vegas, Nevada.
