I live in the metro Atlanta, Georgia area. I was born in Atlanta in 1946 after my father returned home from WWII. I’ve lived here all my life. After graduating with a degree in civil engineering from Georgia Tech, I worked for the Georgia DOT for 34 years, retiring in 2001. Since then, I have worked part-time for a consulting engineering firm. “Recollections: A Baby Boomer's Memories of the Fabulous Fifties” is my first book. I got the idea for the book a number of years ago when I overheard some of the younger people in the office talking about their favorite TV shows when they were kids. I kind of shocked them when I said that TV didn’t exist when I was a little kid. That was about ten years ago, and I got the idea that I could write a book about life in the 1950s. Nevertheless, the idea languished until last year, when I read Bill Bryson’s The Life and Times of the Thunderbolt Kid, a humorous memoir based on his childhood experiences growing up in the 1950s and early 1960s. Bill did a marvelous job of describing how it was to be a kid in the United States during that period. I decided then to write my book, a light, easy read about the daily rituals of life during that period, especially from a kid’s viewpoint. The book is not a memoir, although it includes a few personal memories.

I have won a number of major photography competitions, both topside and underwater. My topside photography has been published in Parade Magazine. My underwater images have been published in National Geographic and Popular Photography.
