Mythology and storytelling are among my main influences, as are Haiku, James Joyce, Melville, Cormac McCarthy, Virginia Woolf, and many others. I've also read nearly everything that Gerald Durrell wrote.
I write to explain the world to myself and to feel as comfortable as possible in the world. Though I'm not sure that I've yet become the writer I want to be, I have been working quite diligently on a traditional epic poem.
