Born and bred like a fatted calf in Stockton, California, Scott Cherney has worn a lot of hats in his life and times, among them, a cowboy hat as a stunt performer in a western amusement park that also housed a melodrama/vaudeville theater. it was there that he became a triple threat actor/writer/director of stage productions over a ten year period. Cherney was also an award-winning stage actor with roles in Angry Housewives, Sylvia and Move Over, Mrs. Markham. He has appeared in such films as Omega Cop and Under Arrest, as well as co-writing and co-directing Backstage Pass with Tom Amo. Scott was the winner of the one and only Stockton Stand-Up Comedy Competition. Cherney's first book, In the Dark: A Life and Times in a Movie Theater was published in 2003, followed by a collection of original comedy sketches entitled Now THAT'S Funny! His novel, the road rage thriller Red Asphalt has garnered numerous excellent reviews, followed by the travel memoir entitled Please Hold Thumbs: A Not-So-Round Trip to South Africa  and the western comedy romance, Song of the Canyon Kid.  Scott's plays, the melodramas Song of the Lone Prairie (retitled Song of the Canyon Kid) and La Rue's Return or How's a Bayou?.(co-authored by Edward Thorpe) and the interactive murder mysteries Dead Tuesday and Murder: The Final Frontier have been produced from one end of the United States. to the other.
