Information
Stewart Ronen Kaplan, who goes by his pen-name Stewart Ronen, was born and raised in South Africa. When he was 14-years-old he emigrated with his family to Israel where he lived for 4 years on Kibbutz Givat Brenner where he also attended high school. On his return to Johannesburg, he attended the University of the Witwatersrand where he earned Honours and Masters degrees in Linguistics, Hebrew and Russian. After graduation, he travelled to the USA and Europe, found love in The Netherlands and stayed there for 19 years. He has subsequently returned to South Africa and now lives in Cape Town. His work has appeared in The Arlington Journal, The Cape Chronicle, Gulf News, The Kalahari Review and elsewhere. He is the recipient of a Julius Robinson Scholarship and a Certificate of Merit in Literature. He is the author of the novel The Goat Herder (December 2010) and the short story Be My Guest. His second novel, Under Philadelphi Road, is under review with publishers and literary agents.
