As a young boy, long afternoons spent fishing with my grandfather and his rambling tales, fired my imagination and became The Roosevelt Gambit. My grandfather was a Southerner and used to tell me a story about meeting Teddy Roosevelt during the Spanish American War, as he, my grandfather, tried to stow away on a train stopped in Spartenburg, S.C., as the Rough Riders were on their way to Cuba. Of course, before it was the Roosevelt Gambit, it was several other things - you guys no doubt know about that sort of stuff. It has been an adventure and as much fun as one can have at a computer - not on the internet! I am a former attorney, who came out West as a teenage Eagle Scout, fell in love with the West and became determined to live here. Hiking the 'stand-alone' volcanic mountains of the desert has been a great joy of mine for these past several years.
