Guinness World Record holder, stick horse aficionado, and author/illustrator Dan Cavanah reads his book "Tiny Timber Finds a Friend" to the real life Tiny Timber stick horse.

Background Information

As a young boy, author/illustrator Dan Cavanah had a passion for horses. Though he was not lucky enough to own a horse, he would play with brooms, mops, and plain ole' sticks, letting his imagination run wild with his make believe horses. He dreamed of someday owning a large horse ranch. Later, as a young man he owned and trained several horses, and was considered to be a want-a-be cowboy and an excellent rider. As the years passed he never lost his childhood dream and would often share his dream with others. In 1990, a fellow horeman, Wes Seibold, gave him a stick horse as a gag gift with a note that read, "Maybe this will be first in the herd on that big horse ranch of your dreams." Since then, he has been an avid collector. In 2002, he was honored with a Guinness World Record for the "Largest Stick Horse Collection" and later recognized by Ripley's "Believe It or Not." A few years later this unique collection, then 500 pieces, went on display at Dolly Parton's Dixie Stampede Dinner & Show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. His collection has been featured on radio, television, newspapers, and magazines around the world. He continues to recieve stick horses from his fans and, occasionally, when finding a ujnique and rare stick horse, he just can't resist the urge to take it home. His passion for stick horses  now includes a passion to write children's books about stick horse tales. He developed a real Tiny Timber stick horse  that is bundled with his book "Tiny Timber Finds a Friend" as the "Tiny Timber Read and Ride" combo pack. He enjoys promoting stick horse fund raising events called Whoadeos for children's charities.
