Julie Church-Romero came from a family of readers, writers and dreamers.  Growing up, a dream was not only supported, it was required.  She sites her parents for teaching her the love of reading.  "With weekly visits to the library, my mother and I would take out as many books as we could carry.  I used to get in trouble just so I would be told to go to my room so I could read, then in later years, I escaped their to write."  Her stories were encouraged, her father being her first editor, proof reader and greatest fan. Historical novels have always been Julie's passion, the first being the Little House on the Prairie" series. "I'm a history geek.  I used to sit in front of the TV wearing a homemade bonnet."  She holds the family record to be only person known to wear out her talkative Irish grandmother with endless questions of how life used to be. After the success of publishing several short stories, Julie decided to try her hand at novel writing, but it was years before she got up the courage to send even one of the three full manuscripts she’d written out.  When she finally did, A Soldier’s Embrace was immediately contracted.  "I'm lucky.  My husband is very supportive.  He gives gentle nudges to push me forward.  He turns off the TV and makes me close my office door and write." A Soldier's Embrace is a historical romance set on the hostile prairie of the American West and in the budding city of Denver Colorado.  It is a story of two people in Victorian America struggling to cast off their families morals and expectations for their own burning desires.
