Background Information

Gerald Gillis is a native of Atlanta, Georgia. He received a Bachelor's degree from the University of Georgia and a Master's degree from the University of Tampa. He and his wife are the parents of three grown children. They continue to reside in the Atlanta area. After college, Gerald spent three years as an officer in the U.S. Marine Corps. After military service, Gerald spent the majority of his business career in the medical-devices industry. He held executive-level positions in distribution management, field-service management, and service-support operations. He traveled extensively as a partner and consultant to his company's international operations. He also became an accomplished writer and speaker during this time. Gerald's first novel, Bent, But Not Broken, was published in 1985. After its publication and subsequent encouraging success, Gerald decided to postpone a career change from successful business manager to fledgling novelist. Gerald is now a full-time novelist. Shall Never See So Much was a Military Writers Society of America and a Readers Favorite awards winner, and is Gerald's second novel. Gerald was also a nominee for the 2012 Georgia Writer of the Year by the Georgia Writer's Association. Gerald's third novel, Dare Not Blink, deals with the rough-and-tumble of the business world. It was recognized as a Finalist for the National Indie Excellence Awards. Gerald's fourth novel, That Deadly Space, is a Civil War historical novel. It was awarded a Gold Medal by the Military Writers Society of America. Gerald's fifth novel, Finding His Own Way, A Marine Novel, is an inspiring story of a young man's journey during the Pacific campaigns of World War II. Gerald is an event speaker who speaks on such topics as business ethics, leadership, communications, and service.    Gerald credits Herman Wouk, Pat Conroy, Shelby Foote, and a high school English teacher as major influences.
