Can there be a “Peace” in the midst of a Storm? From the dusky earth of Boston, Mass, breathed an abandoned, confused, and lonely wind yet overpowered by courage, determination, perseverance and pursuit. Born Nathan C. Parker on June 2, 1976, Nathan C. Landers was a product of rape from a teenaged runaway mother. Lander became a ward of the State, and at two years old, was adopted and raised by a respected, but secretly dysfunctional family in the Roxbury, Massachusetts’s area. As a part of this family, Landers suffered much abuse. Swirling in the winds of this unpredicted storm, even as a child, Landers realized trials and changes are equalizers of life and personal growth is the process of responding positively. Landers was never ultimately distraught or discouraged but was strengthened and gained courage to conquer the undefeatable circumstances that plagued his environment.  As an adult, the raging winds did not cease. Landers was stripped of any wealth afforded him, ambition humiliated, and all pride humbled. As one comment from The Brockton Sunday Enterprise states, he is “not your average Ward of the State.” Through life-threatening obstacles of abuse and abandonment, misunderstandings, poverty, homelessness, and heart-breaks, Landers was determined not to succumb to the risks and expectations of this society. Landers knew that faith in God, cultivation of his musical abilities as a self-taught musician, pursuit of higher education, encouragement from influential constituents, authoring and releasing his autobiographical memoir, A Walking Peace, and dedication to his mission of encouraging and helping at-risk youths and young adults by raising awareness on issues including child abuse, homelessness, poverty and violence, were his sources of fresh air and survival of the unwelcome but uncontrollable perils of his existence.   Yes, there is a “Peace,” A Walking Peace, in the midst of a Storm. The life of Nathan C. Landers has proven just that; failure was not and is not an option for him. Landers is one of Boston’s most talented and inspiring young men who has gained countrywide notoriety. Landers’ story, as The Boston Globe reported, “is worthy of the big screen.” Landers has been extensively interviewed and profiled in the press. He made his debut on national television on ABC’s “Good Morning America,” broadcasted live from New York City where Robin Roberts stated Landers’ story is “a story of Inspiration, and he is truly rising up and moving forward.” Landers subsequently appeared on CBS’s “Talk of the Town” and Fox News Live. He has been interviewed and featured in People’s magazine and has been the focus of cover stories published in the Boston Globe, the Boston Herald, the Brockton Sunday Enterprise, the Woonsocket Call, the Nashville Pride, the Knoxville News Sentinel, and the Tennessean. In 2003 alone, A Walking Peace reportedly sold over 20,000 copies. Landers has also optioned the film rights to his story to the California-based movie agency responsible for such blockbusters as Titanic, Reindeer Games, and The Four Feathers.   Landers’ accomplishments include earning an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Liberal Arts from Massasoit Community College in Brockton, Massachusetts, and founding NCL Publishing – a literary and music publishing company. In 2004, he furthered his educational pursuit as a full-time student at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, the world’s largest independent music college and a leading institution for the study of contemporary music. Notably, Landers has lectured to thousands of teenagers throughout urban communities in America.   Landers’ motto is, “Use your head, follow your heart and act with courage; courage, intelligence and love reside inside us which can be nurtured and promoted or devalued and dismissed. The choice is always ours.” Therefore, he continues to strive for excellence and integrate his story and passion by expressing what he feels is his calling and mission through his life and memoir, his music, and inspirational speeches into the souls of people across America. Having received his BA degree in Music Business and Performance, Landers is now an accomplished musician of Berklee College of Music; he is a masterpiece of his time in his own rights.    He currently serves as a motivational speaker, maintaining activism against child abuse and neglect, a singer/pianist/producer/songwriter, a businessman, and a Minister of Music in his community.
