I found blips and blurbs on the subject in several books, but not enough to be useful. I did find a lot of books on the empty nest for parents of children that have gone off to college, but I was a little insulted that those books were more available than any information on the empty nest of military parents. Did the writers of these books think that joining the military could be lumped into this same category? I think not!   1) College kids don’t swear to protect and serve their country with their lives. 2) Communication for military personnel can be limited 3) The enlisted don’t always come home for holidays and spring break.
