Background Information

Reflections of my memories include childhood and my journey to London, England by plane and ship with my young widowed mother and two sisters from Dhaka, Bangladesh in 1950. Am motivated by mother's sacrifice as a widow at age twentyfive for her three fatherless infant daughters. She was so brave to take on our responsibility as a graduate student. My schools days for two years in London, England will be ever fresh in my mind. Returning to Dhaka in 1952 and continuing with our education while mother was intensely occupied with her profession as an adminstrator and professor in the University of Dhaka, Dhaka, Bangladesh is note worthy.

Later, mother became my catalyst and mentor as I continued to pursue my profession as a scientist in Ottawa, Canada; Glasgow, Scotland and Atlanta, Georgia: since 1963. My two daughters motivated and are pursuing their professional career in Canada as proud Canadians in their place in Ottawa, Ontario.

As a proud Canadain my desire is to document my many little contributions to make Ottawa a safe, friendly, and enhance the heritage of Canada since 1972 for us, our children and our future generations. As well as my unique experiences of being a female graduate student in Chemistry at Carleton University, Ottawa in the sixties while raising a family.

My research areas include: organometallic, organic and forensic Chemistry. Other  interests and contributions are Women's issues to empower women's rights and self identity, health concerns of our community, education for both men and women to create a congenial global society. As an educationist my heart pains to see how today's young men and women are struggling to acquire skills to survive. I have many publications in my scientific fields, news papers, magazines and in house Newsletters. Published articles, stories and biographies in many books and special publications.

Among many goals in my lfe in Ottawa: to cite a few are to eradicate poverty, loneliness and single parent family. I strongly feel we are at the cross road to redefine the concept a  family. A family home is to provide education, discipline with tender love and care so our future generation  can bloosom to be dignified, compassionate person and be accessible to others in need in the family as well as global society.
