Karyn Lyndon’s interest in writing began with praise about a poetry assignment from her 5th grade teacher. “Who knew a purple hippo would change the course of my life? And I’m referring to the poem--not the teacher,” Lyndon muses. During high school her poetry and short stories were published in several anthologies. She then attended the University of North Texas where the only publishing she did was through the university newspaper.  “Newspaper writing seemed to hem me in—too many facts and not enough fun," says Lyndon. "I loved the brevity and creativity of ad copy. I wanted to have a job just like Samantha Steven's husband on Bewitched. At the time I didn't realize a job description like his doesn't exist.” She received a B.A. in Journalism with an emphasis in advertising. While pursuing her career as a retail fashion writer and editor for several Dallas department stores and catalogs, she married and gave birth to a daughter and a son.  During her supermom years she was a copywriter by day.  By night she choreographed, designed costumes and directed her award-winning competitive dance team. Carving out time from her hectic lifestyle to pursue her writing dreams became a challenge. But she finally finished her first novel, a paranormal romance, The Third Time.  Recognizing this attempt as a learning experience, she never pursued publishing it.  Instead, she formed a critique group at work called the Legacy Writers Club, joined the Romance Writers of America and the Dallas Area Romance Authors, and attended writer’s conferences in an effort to hone her craft.  Now she’s found her true comedic voice with her debut chick lit novel, CurvyKathy31: Confessions of a Chat-aholic, released last February.  Her second chick lit novel, For Richer or Repo, was recently released.
